After nearly two years of paying monthly rent for a storage unit – and almost never going there or doing anything with the contents – it was time for it all to go. (But he kept a few treasures.)
I feel that way every time I get on Newspapers.com to look up an old article. Proud of what we did and sad it isn't the same.
Most of the Waterloo Courier's old paper clip files are in a warehouse in Omaha, Neb. We offered to take them all lock, stock and barrel at the Grout Museum. No sale. Corporate dictates. But a squad of us were allowed to get as much as we could. Took out about five big boxes including glossy photos. Got the separate file box that was being kept with everything on the Sullivan brothers.
If you have anything else to dispose of, please consider asking a local academic library if they're interested in archiving it. Lots of popular culture over lots of years. Most could have been digitized and subjected to OCR. Too bad! I'm still trying to find the columns you wrote about your time teaching at BVU! Thanks, mike
Wait! Wait! Chuck! There’s a book in there. Don’t let those columns go yet.
Good job on the purge. Saving your son from having to do it someday.
By the way, I was friends with Michael Lemberger and his wife when I lived in Ottumwa in the 90’s. Small world!

You've done amazing work, Chuck! You should be very proud 💖🌟
This hits home hard. Great stories and feeling about a life well-lived. Time for coffee to relive the memories. T
