Lawtons and I have a 21-year tradition of measuring their crop against the old adage “knee-high by the 4th of July.” This year encouraging their health is more important.
I LOVE reading your articles about Iowa and especially, Jefferson, my hometown! Thank you so much, Chuck! It's still great to have an Iowa connection, especially since I have lived in Florida since June of 1975, right after I graduated from Iowa State!
Great human interest story, Chuck. It reminded me of my childhood on my parents farm. My sister and I where often used as "yardsticks" in crop height pictures. If corn was only " Knee high by the 4th of July" it was a bad year!
LiPEO Always, from a former CZ member, where I was initiated into mom Judy McConkie's chapter in 1974 - now a member in Chapter IN - Sebastian, Florida. I have a very dear friend here in Sebastian, who has just recently gone through the same diagnosis and treatment at the Moffitt Cancer Treatment & Research Center in Tampa, Florida. She is also working hard to get her strength back. Doug is a good friend and classmate of my sister, Susan McConkie Rich. We both send you our VERY BEST WISHES!
I needed a good read on this July 4th.
This past week in news has been overwhelming 😔
We can cuss and discuss deficits, politics, etc. -- but when the sun sets it boils down to one thing in life -- health.
Then add in Faith, Family and Friends as appetizers!
RINO -- Ed (not sure that's even true anymore 🤔🤔).
Thanks for this story. All my best to Karen as she continues her recovery!
Love this. The reality of life, and how it centers around health, friends and family.

Another entry for your weekly master class for columnists. Thanks, Chuck.

Best to you, Karen. LIPEO, and yes, life is precious.
